Candidate Statement

As a connected medical device start-up founder and e-health Cloud solution manager, I firmly believe that free and fair Internet access supports resilient communities and a strong Canada.

I will contribute by giving a voice to the remote communities, including the Francophone, as I am bilingual with real experience of living in different provinces and working with different provinces’ and Territories’ organizations.

I am interested in joining CIRA to contribute to maintaining its technology leadership role while inspiring positive Internet policies for all citizens.

From my perspective, CIRA is expanding its mission from the technical management of the Canadian Internet to the the support of the sustainable and inclusive usage of Internet by Canadian users.

It matters to focus now on the users as they feel the pressure of cyber threats and cyber exclusion for political and financial reasons.

I want to be on CIRA’s Board of Directors to voice the concern of those who relies on the Internet to keep their communities alive and vibrant. I bring my skills and experience of negotiating with multiple partners with different goals, keeping organizations aligned on their core values and goals.

I think that CIRA will have to face the risk of being perceived as a bureaucratic authority, unable to influence public policies. From my personal experience working with local authorities and communities, CIRA will have to reconnect with the younger population in School, College and university while reviewing its lobbying plans and communication. One can think of the tremendous effort done by the Canadian space agency to promote itself. CIRA need a single, bold and easily identified program to create the much needed public interest.
