THE PROJECT

The Students Commission of Canada (SCC) works in partnership with organizations across the country to help young people transition positively into successful adulthood using four pillars: Respect, Listen, Understand and Communicate. With CIRA funding, SCC added a Virtual Reality (VR) component to their Youth Story Tellers program, assisting youth in creating and experiencing racial and cultural diversity by using storytelling to protect youth from radicalization.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

About 70 students from five communities across Canada developed digital skills by working with tools like cameras, VR goggles and editing software to produce 360° videos representing their communities. The videos were shared with youth in other distinct communities to share diverse cultural and racial experiences.
