THE PROJECT
The Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre (SGRC) at Selkirk College facilitates research, develops new technology applications and provides customized training to prepare students for work, further education, service and lifelong learning. This project created and administered a survey for open data providers and consumers to inform recommendations for open data policy.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The project aimed to raise awareness of the challenges small, rural communities face in providing and accessing open data and its benefits. In this process, the SGRC met with decision makers and local MPs to share the initial findings of the survey and co-authored a chapter of a book on the future of open data.
