THE PROJECT
Metro Vancouver Aboriginal Executive Council (MVAEC) is the unified voice of 22 Indigenous organizations across Metro Vancouver, representing a diverse range of programs, services, and mandates that serve 40,000 Indigenous people. An engagement platform was developed to digitally connect Indigenous youth in Metro Vancouver to relevant and culturally appropriate knowledge and services using a Facebook bot integrated with MVAEC’s Facebook page.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The bot has allowed users to easily connect with partners in MVAEC’s network, reducing existing barriers in accessing services. Early testing showed promising results in reducing the number of clicks needed to find services, as well as improved feelings of empowerment and cultural relevance for users.
