THE PROJECT

This First Nation located in Northwestern Ontario did not have high-speed fibre optic connectivity, seriously limiting their access to services and opportunities and creating a digital divide. The Fibre Feasibility Study was successfully completed through engagement with the Nation’s membership and businesses, as well as key connectivity stakeholders, helping to better understand the Nation’s current state of connectivity and what is needed to get the community on the grid.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

The research was used to guide discussions of the next steps to secure funding to establish connectivity, and the findings were key to providing more reliable internet services to the Couchiching First Nation community.
