THE PROJECT
Researchers at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) piloted this initiative with the aim to integrate new Canadians seeking jobs into an online community to gain and share work experience and develop digital literary skills. A project website, Experim (no longer active), was launched to connect employers and job seekers.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The site assisted skilled immigrants with receiving Canadian job experience and relevant competencies, maximizing their ability to get a job and contribute to their communities. Mentors were recruited from external cultural associations, providing job seekers with resources to learn important skills for both the job market and their fields of work.
