THE PROJECT

Christie Lake Kids’ programming for girls from low-income families in areas such as recreation, arts, leadership, volunteerism, and vocational development helps make improvements in their physical and mental health and provides girls with a sense of involvement and self-worth. Through offering a digital literacy program within their ‘Girls Only’ programming framework, CLK aimed to increase the digital skill set of these vulnerable girls.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

This digital literacy program was hosted through virtual and in-person sessions, providing vital education to young girls who lack internet access. Girls could borrow laptops through a lending library to access digital resources, and program kits were delivered to homes to allow for full program participation during the pandemic. Dozens of girls aged 6-13 successfully fostered their digital skills in the face of the increasingly online world during COVID.
