Dataware – Data Literacy for Youth

THE PROJECT

Communautique’s mission is to democratize access to technology, and with a CIRA grant they developed Dataware, a curriculum and a series of workshops to address social issues around data literacy for youth aged 17 to 29.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

These workshops strengthened the data literacy knowledge and capacity of youth while helping them develop critical thinking skills. Youth were equipped to get involved with their communities by promoting the use of local data for addressing issues related to local democracy, environmental protections, and sustainable food systems. This curriculum is available for anyone keen to empower young Canadians to realize their potential as informed, engaged citizens and entrepreneurs by using the internet and data in a meaningful and safe way.
