THE PROJECT
Access to fast and reliable internet continues to be a major barrier to realizing digital equity, particularly for First Nations communities in underserved areas. To help 20 First Nations communities in Western Canada better understand gaps in their infrastructure and connectivity, Cybera installed open-source devices in public buildings to record internet speed and traffic.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The resulting data demonstrates how few communities met the CRTC-mandated minimum of 50/10 Mbps, with the hope that this data can inspire other communities to identify their own network gaps and advocate for policies that improve connectivity across Canada.
