THE PROJECT

Siksika Nation in southern Alberta is one of the many First Nations across Canada that faces barriers to accessing fast and reliable internet. Five community service buildings on the reserve required significant upgrades to their internet infrastructure to provide adequate services and care to the 3,500 residents.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

With CIRA funding, they successfully upgraded the connectivity in Siksika Health Services, Head Start, Sportsplex, Elders Lodge and Victim Services, providing them with high-quality internet connection and WiFi coverage. This improved connectivity and reliability for the community is a lifeline to accessing the health, cultural, educational and community services that are so vital in a remote and rural region.
