Candidate Statement
Building a safer, stronger, and more inclusive Canadian internet—together.”
I’m a technology leader with over 15 years’ experience designing and securing the systems that keep organizations running—from federal departments to Canadian businesses. My career has spanned cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and software development, with a focus on building solutions that are secure, scalable, and accessible.
I’ve led projects at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Street Capital Bank of Canada, and McKesson, delivering technology that meets the highest standards for privacy, compliance, and reliability. Along the way, I’ve worked closely with diverse teams, mentored emerging talent, and built strong relationships with stakeholders to turn complex challenges into practical, lasting solutions.
CIRA’s role in protecting the .CA domain and strengthening Canada’s internet infrastructure is one I take seriously. The internet is now central to every part of Canadian life, and it must remain safe, resilient, and inclusive. If elected, I will bring my expertise in cloud security, data governance, and strategic planning to help CIRA continue leading in these areas.
I believe in technology that serves people first—supporting innovation while safeguarding privacy, expanding access, and ensuring the systems we rely on can be trusted. With a Secret Level II clearance and a track record of delivering on complex mandates, I’m ready to work with the board, members, and stakeholders to advance CIRA’s mission and Canada’s digital future.
From my perspective, CIRA is far more than the registry for the .CA domain—it is a steward of Canada’s digital identity, security, and internet resilience. By managing the .CA domain, CIRA ensures that Canadian individuals, businesses, and organizations have a trusted and recognizable online presence. But its role extends well beyond domain registration.
CIRA is a leader in advancing a safe, reliable, and accessible internet for all Canadians. It invests in cybersecurity services, such as DNS protection, to safeguard against online threats. It supports digital literacy and access programs, helping bridge the connectivity gap in underserved communities. It advocates for policies that protect privacy, promote net neutrality, and ensure that Canada’s internet infrastructure remains resilient in the face of evolving challenges.
This work matters because the internet is no longer optional—it underpins commerce, education, government services, and everyday communication. A secure and inclusive internet strengthens Canada’s economy, empowers innovation, and protects the rights and freedoms of citizens.
With over 15 years’ experience in cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and systems design, I understand firsthand the importance of trust, security, and accessibility in the digital realm. My work with federal and private organizations has reinforced the need for governance bodies like CIRA to set high standards and lead by example.
CIRA’s mission aligns closely with my values: building a digital future that is safe, inclusive, and uniquely Canadian. Its work ensures that Canada’s internet infrastructure not only meets today’s demands but is prepared for tomorrow’s opportunities and challenges.
I want to join CIRA’s Board of Directors because I believe in building a Canadian internet that is secure, resilient, and inclusive for all. Having spent over 15 years in technology leadership—spanning cloud architecture, cybersecurity, data governance, and software development—I’ve seen firsthand how critical trusted internet infrastructure is to economic growth, innovation, and public trust.
My work with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, Street Capital Bank of Canada, and McKesson has involved leading complex, high-stakes projects where security, privacy, and accessibility were non-negotiable. I have designed and implemented secure cloud environments, governed sensitive data under strict compliance frameworks, and led diverse teams through successful delivery of mission-critical systems. This experience equips me to provide informed, strategic oversight on CIRA’s technical initiatives while ensuring they align with policy, governance, and member priorities.
As a board member, I would contribute by:
* Bringing deep technical expertise in AWS, Azure, and cybersecurity to strengthen CIRA’s security posture.
* Applying my leadership experience to bridge technical and non-technical perspectives, enabling informed decision-making.
* Advocating for digital inclusion, so all Canadians—regardless of location—benefit from a safe and reliable internet.
* Leveraging my experience in governance, compliance, and risk management to support CIRA’s mandate and long-term sustainability.
With a proven track record in stakeholder collaboration, and a commitment to transparency, I am prepared to help CIRA navigate emerging challenges while advancing its mission to protect and strengthen Canada’s internet ecosystem
**1) Cyber resilience & DNS abuse**
**Challenge:** Sophisticated phishing, DDoS, and supply-chain attacks targeting DNS and Canadian SMEs will intensify.
**Opportunity:** Expand DNS security services, threat-intel sharing, and resiliency testing across the .CA ecosystem.
**How I’d help:** I’ve led secure, scalable cloud architectures and incident response for IRCC and financial services, implementing IAM, encryption, DR/BCP, and vulnerability management on AWS/Azure. As a board member, I’d champion measurable security KPIs, regular tabletop exercises, and multi-cloud, anycast DNS resilience.
**2) Digital inclusion & member trust**
**Challenge:** The digital divide persists in rural/remote communities; small organizations lack resources for security and digital skills.
**Opportunity:** Targeted grants, partnerships, and turnkey security offerings that are easy to adopt—backed by transparent impact metrics.
**How I’d help:** My background in data engineering/ETL and reporting (banking, healthcare, public sector) equips me to strengthen outcome measurement, prioritize funding by need, and simplify adoption via practical, well-documented tooling. I’ve mentored cross-functional teams and can bridge technical and community perspectives to boost trust and participation.
**3) Modernization, privacy & regulatory alignment**
**Challenge:** Scaling registry and DNS platforms while meeting evolving privacy/sovereignty requirements and managing cost/performance.
**Opportunity:** Accelerate cloud-native modernization, automation (DevSecOps), and privacy-by-design—delivering reliability, transparency, and efficiency.
With 15+ years across cloud, cybersecurity, data governance, and team leadership, I’m ready to provide pragmatic oversight that strengthens CIRA’s security, inclusivity, and operational excellence over the next 3–5 years.
