**Domain & Cybersecurity Experience**
I’ve served in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Not-for-Profit Operational Concerns Constituency and GNSO-NCSG Executive Committee leadership and as AFRINIC Vice Chair, gaining firsthand knowledge of registry operations. My cybersecurity expertise covers DNS security, DDoS mitigation, and infrastructure resilience.
**Canadian Internet Governance Leadership**
I contribute to the Canadian Internet Governance Forum and chair the Internet Society’s Nominations Committee, building consensus across global stakeholders to advance digital inclusion.
Let’s strengthen CIRA together as Canada’s trusted internet steward.
From my two decades in Internet governance and registry operations, I see CIRA as Canada’s foremost ccTLD and digital sovereignty guardian, fundamentally different from any typical GTLD domain registries. While managing 3.3 million .CA domains with exceptional 100% uptime since 2014, CIRA has evolved into something strategically vital for our national interests.
CIRA operates on three critical fronts. First, it safeguards national identity by enforcing Canadian Presence Requirements for .CA registrants, ensuring domains reflect authentic Canadian entities and values. Second, it strengthens cyber resilience through comprehensive cybersecurity solutions DNS Firewall and Canadian Shield
block over 200 million malicious requests monthly, protecting millions of Canadians while maintaining data sovereignty under Canadian privacy laws rather than foreign corporate control.
Third, it drives digital progress through community investment. CIRA’s $1 million annual investment in rural, Indigenous, and underserved communities, plus supporting 12 Internet Exchange Points nationwide, directly addresses digital divide challenges I’ve witnessed globally through my ICANN, ARIN, ISOC and AFRINIC
experience.
What strikes me most is CIRA’s sophisticated policy engagement championing multistakeholder governance principles while resisting government attempts to centralize internet control. Their collaboration with ISED and hosting the Canadian IGF demonstrates the kind of advocacy I’ve pursued internationally.
CIRA matters because it embodies what works in internet governance: technical excellence paired with democratic accountability and community focus. As digital threats intensify and internet governance faces increasing pressures, CIRA ensures Canada controls our digital destiny rather than leaving it to foreign corporations or authoritarian regimes.
I’m driven to serve on CIRA’s Board because I believe I can help to strengthen Canada’s digital sovereignty and identity through strategic leadership, technical insight, and good governance. My experience spans over 20 years across finance, technology, cybersecurity, and internet governance—skills that align well with CIRA’s mission. At Assiniboine Credit Union ($9.6B in assets), I lead Business Intelligence efforts, supporting audits, budgeting, and risk frameworks. I also serve on the Internet Society, Internet Society Foundation’s Strategic, Audit, and Finance Committees, where I provide oversight on budgets and compliance, showing my readiness to contribute to
CIRA’s financial health.
In other spaces, I have served as CTO at Ktrex and CEO of Olum Consulting. I’ve led ERP and digital transformation projects for over 500 organizations. Through roles at ICANN and AFRINICand more recently ARIN, I understand DNS, registry operations, and have hands-on experience with DDoS mitigation and DNS security—
directly relevant to CIRA’s core services.
I also bring board and governance experience. I chair the Internet Society’s Strategic and Nominations Committees, where I’ve led diverse teams and built consensus on key digital policy issues. In addition, I serve on the Canadian Internet Governance Forum All Hands Committee,
**What I bring to the Board:**
- Proven financial and audit oversight
- Deep technical and cybersecurity experience
- Strong governance and leadership capacity
- A commitment to collaboration and strategic alignment
I believe in CIRA’s role as Canada’s trusted internet steward, and I’m ready to help guide its next chapter.
As a Canadian citizen who immigrated here, I’ve witnessed firsthand the digital divide CIRA faces connecting with new Canadians and younger demographics, which directly impacts. CA adoption as social media platforms try to replace traditional domain marketplaces.
**Top 3 Strategic Challenges and Opportunities:**
**1. Market Expansion & Digital Inclusion**:
.CA’s slow growth among immigrants and youth threatens long-term viability. My immigrant experience provides unique insights into barriers preventing new Canadians from choosing. CA domains.
**2. Cybersecurity Leadership**:
Escalating AI-enhanced cyber threats create both risk and opportunity. CIRA must evolve from a domain registrar to a national cybersecurity guardian, capturing enterprise revenue from schools, hospitals, and government agencies seeking integrated security platforms.
**3. International Growth via Hello Registry**:
The SIDN partnership offers revenue diversification beyond .CA dependency, leveraging our ccTLD credibility through disciplined scaling.
**My Board Governance Value:**
My DNS/registry security experience and CTO experience scaling infrastructure technical depth will be of immense value for CIRA’s cybersecurity transformation, aligning with 2025 enterprise spending trends.
My business intelligence and go-to-market leadership at Assiniboine Credit Union (a $9.6B assets) and Internet Society Foundation financial oversight, plus ERP transformation across 500+ organizations, ensures disciplined international scaling.
Engaging youth and new Canadians represents untapped growth—I understand this market personally. My multistakeholder navigation skills from ICANN, AFRINIC, and ARIN roles, combined with governance experience managing complex budgets, positions me to transform challenges into opportunities.
I believe I can help support CIRA evolve into building sustainable cybersecurity revenue streams while ensuring .CA becomes every Canadian’s preferred choice.
