Candidate Statement
As an incumbent candidate seeking a third term on CIRA’s Board of Directors, I bring a deep commitment to strengthening Canada’s Internet. Over the past two terms, I’ve been proud to contribute to CIRA’s work in building a trusted, accessible, and secure Internet for all Canadians.
With over two decades of experience in technology, telecommunications, and Internet governance, I offer both strategic and hands-on expertise. I’ve served as Vice-Chair of the Internet Society Canada Chapter and on the ARIN Advisory Council, helping shape regional Internet policy. My background as a founder of a cloud and cybersecurity consulting firm provides me with firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities facing Canada’s digital infrastructure.
During my time on the CIRA board, I’ve championed initiatives that promote digital inclusion, support Canadian Internet resilience, and ensure that CIRA continues to evolve in a rapidly changing global Internet landscape. I am especially proud of the work we’ve done to expand CIRA’s role in cybersecurity and public interest technology.
I believe that CIRA has a critical role to play in ensuring Canada’s Internet remains open, innovative, and secure. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for policies and programs that serve the public interest, support Canadian businesses and nonprofits, and uphold the values of transparency, accountability, and digital sovereignty.
Thank you for your support.
CIRA plays a vital role in Canada’s digital ecosystem by managing the .CA domain, advancing cybersecurity solutions, and supporting initiatives that strengthen our national Internet infrastructure. But beyond that, CIRA serves as a steward of the public interest online.
In an increasingly digital world, CIRA’s work ensures that Canadians have a trusted, resilient, and sovereign Internet. Whether it’s defending against cyber threats, enabling digital access in underserved communities, or promoting policies that reflect Canadian values, CIRA is uniquely positioned to make a meaningful impact.
CIRA matters because the Internet matters—not just as a tool for communication and commerce, but as a foundational element of our democracy, economy, and society. By supporting a secure, inclusive, and innovative Internet, CIRA helps ensure that all Canadians can benefit from the opportunities of the digital age.
I’m seeking a third term on CIRA’s Board because I believe deeply in CIRA’s mission and the importance of a strong, secure, and accessible Internet for all Canadians. Serving on the board has been an honour, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to expand CIRA’s impact in cybersecurity, digital equity, and Internet governance.
I bring over 20 years of experience in technology, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and Internet policy. As the founder of a cloud consulting firm, I work daily with organizations navigating digital transformation. My background also includes governance roles with national and international Internet bodies, including the Internet Society Canada Chapter (Vice-Chair) and the ARIN Advisory Council.
As a board member, I contribute technical and strategic insight, as well as a strong commitment to public-interest technology. I understand both the opportunities and challenges facing CIRA, and I have a proven track record of collaboration, accountability, and results. If re-elected, I will continue to advocate for initiatives that strengthen Canada’s Internet and ensure CIRA remains forward-looking, transparent, and impactful.
Over the next 3 to 5 years, I see three key challenges—and corresponding opportunities—for CIRA:
1. Strengthening Canada’s Internet Sovereignty and Resilience
With growing global instability and cyber threats, CIRA must continue to invest in infrastructure and services that protect Canadian networks and data. The opportunity lies in positioning CIRA as a leader in digital sovereignty, ensuring Canadians’ Internet experiences are secure, reliable, and not subject to foreign control.
My experience in cybersecurity and infrastructure—along with work supporting cloud migration and threat mitigation—gives me practical insight into building a more resilient Internet for Canada.
2. Bridging the Digital Divide
Many communities in Canada still lack reliable, affordable Internet access. CIRA can continue to support community-led connectivity projects and advocate for digital equity.
Having worked with both enterprise clients and grassroots groups, I understand the technical and policy levers to support underserved regions and promote inclusive access.
3. Adapting to Emerging Technologies and Evolving Policy Landscapes
AI, quantum computing, and privacy laws are rapidly advancing. CIRA must stay ahead—ensuring its services remain relevant and its policy voice reflects Canadian values.
My work at the intersection of technology and governance—combined with leadership on policy-focused boards—positions me to help CIRA navigate these changes while staying true to its mission.
In short, I bring a strong blend of technical knowledge, governance experience, and strategic insight to support CIRA through these evolving challenges.
