As Managing Partner of Tidal Venture Partners, I lead investments in early-stage technologies that strengthen Canada’s digital and national infrastructure. I founded Tidal’s first fund and more recently launched a second, nationally focused fund dedicated to sovereign technologies. These are technologies that help build a more resilient and secure Canada.

My background spans venture capital, strategy consulting, and startup operations. I’ve served as the first hire at two venture-backed companies, led the strategy and innovation practice at Atlantic Canada’s largest management consultancy, and advised founders and CEOs across Canada and internationally. I currently serve on the board of the University of King’s College, Canada’s oldest chartered university, and several private company boards. This experience has given me a strong foundation in governance, risk oversight, and public accountability.

I view the .CA domain and CIRA’s work as critical to Canada’s digital sovereignty and economic resilience. I believe CIRA is uniquely positioned to build trust in our digital systems, champion infrastructure resiliency, and lead by example in internet governance.

As a board member, I would bring a national perspective, but rooted in Atlantic Canada, strong investment and operational literacy, and a deep commitment to CIRA’s public-interest mission. I understand how foundational digital infrastructure is to our national future, and I would be proud to support CIRA in safeguarding and advancing it.

CIRA’s work matters because the internet is no longer peripheral to society; it is central to how Canadians live, work, transact, and trust. By enforcing Canadian Presence Requirements and maintaining the .CA registry within Canada, CIRA ensures that control over this vital resource remains in Canadian hands. This is not just a technical function. It is a strategic one, protecting against foreign interference, fraud, and loss of brand integrity.

Beyond registry operations, CIRA leads in cybersecurity through tools like Canadian Shield and it reinvests in the public through its Net Good program. These initiatives reflect a purpose-driven model I admire, one that sees infrastructure not as a commodity but as a public good.

As someone who invests in sovereign technologies across Canada, I view CIRA’s role as essential to our national resilience. From intellectual property protection to internet governance, CIRA operates at the intersection of trust, security, and sovereignty. That is why its mandate and its leadership matter now more than ever.

I want to serve on CIRA’s Board because I believe trusted, sovereign digital infrastructure is vital to Canada’s future. I am drawn to CIRA’s public-interest mission and would be proud to support its leadership in cybersecurity, governance, and infrastructure resilience.

As the Managing Partner and founder of Tidal Venture Partners, I have built and led investment funds focused on sovereign technologies—early-stage platforms that strengthen Canada’s digital and national capacity, including cybersecurity, data infrastructure, and privacy-enhancing technologies. I have raised capital from family offices and institutional investors across the country and lead the delivery of third-party national audits within 90 days of year-end to over 50 limited partners. I bring a strong understanding of where the internet is heading, how innovation ecosystems work, and how to support systems-level resilience in an era of rapid change.

I am from the East Coast of Canada, home to national strategic assets such as the University of New Brunswick’s Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity. These institutions are key to advancing CIRA’s goals around Canadian internet resilience, and I can help bridge regional strengths with national strategy.

I also bring strong governance experience. During my five-year term on the University of King’s College Board of Governors, I have served on the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee, the Executive Committee, and both presidential and vice-presidential search committees. I would bring sound judgment, a national perspective, and a deep commitment to thoughtful, forward-looking governance.

I would be honoured to contribute my experience to CIRA’s important work.

1.Advancing Cybersecurity and Internet Resilience: Cyber threats are evolving rapidly. CIRA must continue to innovate and expand tools like Canadian Shield to protect the .CA domain and Canadian users, maintaining trust and safety online.

2. Strengthening Canada’s Digital Sovereignty: Amid growing global pressures, maintaining Canadian control over internet infrastructure is critical. CIRA has the opportunity to lead efforts as a convenor and organising voice on building a resilient, sovereign digital ecosystem.

3. Increasing Community Engagement and Trust: To fulfil its public mandate, CIRA must deepen stakeholder engagement, promote digital inclusion, and clearly demonstrate the unique value of .CA domains to Canadians.

How My Experience Helps:
As Managing Partner at Tidal Venture Partners, I have led fundraising for our first two funds, raising capital from family offices and institutional investors across Canada. This necessitated helping investors understand the vital importance of supporting Canadian-owned and developed technologies that strengthen national digital resilience.

My strategy consulting background and governance experience, including serving on the board of the University of King’s College, provide me with strong skills in oversight, risk management, and stakeholder collaboration. This experience at the intersection of private industry and public institutions has given me the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder settings.
