Canadians love coffee. In fact, in 2015 Canadians ranked #1 in the world for how many litres of coffee per capita purchased at food service joints like cafés.

When we found out that International Coffee Day was October 1st, we thought it would be a great idea to round up some coffee-related .CA domains and see how these cafés and coffee equipment online retailers have established an online presence to build their Canadian brand, share their story and essential information with customers.

So grab a coffee and check out these 12 great .CA domain names from across the country:

1. Tunnel Espresso Bar: tunnelespresso.ca

This minimalist, slide-show style website advertises two locations in Montreal with just the essential information and impactful imagery.

2. Cool Beans Coffee Company Inc.: coolbeanscoffee.ca

This mobile coffee shop company based in Red Deer, AB has a fleet of buses – called Mini Beans and Junior Beans. You can event hire one for weddings or events. Cool beans!

The local business look & feel of their branding is evident across all of their channels. Nothing says “We’re a local business” like a .CA domain name!

3. Java Works Coffee Co.: javaworks.ca

This family-owned coffee roasting company has been in the business since the 1960’s. Their unique history is told in a video on their “About us” page.

4. Vintage Coffee Roasters: vintagecoffeeroasters.ca

This coffee roaster and shop from Hamilton focuses on community. Their website powered by Squarespace shows their Instagram feed on the home page – an excellent way to sync up their various digital platforms.

5. Jumping Bean: jumpingbean.ca

Jumping Bean uses their website to share the story of how it all started – the first roast by CEO Jeff LeDrew was part of a fundraiser for the Rotary Club and has now grown in to a multi-million dollar business. They import and roast coffee at a plant in St. John’s, NL, supply whole beans and single serve compostable pods, and run a system of corporate and franchise cafés.

When you buy from Jumping Bean, your small purchase is keeping money, jobs, and industry in Canada.

6. Morning Owl: morningowl.ca

With a “strong growing flock of owls located across the city” – currently 5 locations in Ottawa (one right near our office) a coffee and breakfast sandwich can make anyone’s morning better. Their website shows their menu, catering menu and locations.

7. Rave Coffee: ravecoffee.ca

Rave Coffee, from Canmore, AB offers a coffee subscription that will mail a different bag of coffee to your house each month, accompanied with detailed farm and tasting notes. What a great gift idea! Also, everything down to the way they’ve designed their packaging to “fit in most Canadian mailboxes” is clearly a part of their brand so we find it very fitting for them to have a .CA domain.

8. Green Beanery: greenbeanery.ca

Green Beanery has become Canada’s largest online retailer of coffee and coffee equipment. With an accolade like that, it’s fitting for them to show off their Canadian pride with a .CA domain. They also have a café in the Annex of Toronto, where they host “Grounds for Thought”, a series of thought-provoking discussions that are free to the public and where they serve a complimentary Coffee of the Week.

9. Baked Café & Bakery: bakedcafe.ca

The Whitehorse café registered a simple domain name and pointed it to their Facebook page, which means they didn’t have to invest any time in creating or maintaining a website. This is a clever strategy for a small business!

10. Train Station Bike & Bean: bikeandbean.ca

Located in Tantallon, NS this establishment is a fusion of biking and coffee: it’s a licensed café but also a bike shop that sells and rents bikes. It’s located in a train station that was built in 1901, near a scenic bike path.

11. Fancy Pants Café: fancypantscafe.ca

This café in Bridgewater, NS shows that you don’t need a fancy, expensive website. It has all the information you need on one page.

12. Bean Around the World: batwmarkham.ca

The owners of this business travelled extensively around the world to source their coffee beans. Acronyms can be a creative way to keep your domain short and memorable – as is the case with Bean Around the World.
